Secara garis besar, airsoft gun memiliki tekanan rata-rata 250-450 fps,
dengan peluru/ BB (ball bearing) kaliber 6 mm. Menggunakan peluru berbahan
plastik dengan berat 0,20 gram sampai 0,4 gram. Sumber tenaganya ada yang
memakai pegas, listrik/ baterai, CO2 dan green gas. Airsoft gun ini tidak
berbahaya, karenanya sering digunakan untuk wargame/ bermain perang-perangan
Dalam hal ini, sasaran tembak adalah tubuh manusia.
Sedangkan airgun memiliki tekanan 2x lipat dari airsoft gun. Tekanannya
mulai 450-900 fs, dengan peluru kaliber 4,5 mm. Daya tembaknya kencang, bisa
menembus tripleks, keramik, kaca. Jika sampai mengenai anggota tubuh, bisa mematikan.
Sebuah percobaan menunjukkan bahwa hanya butuh 2 kali tembakan untuk membunuh
seekor anjing. Peluru yang digunakan adalah peluru besi, ada pula yang
menggunakan peluru mimis (peluru senapan angin).
Airsoft gun dan airgun sama-sama terbuat dari bahan metal, bahkan
beberapa tipe juga menggunakan sumber energi CO2.
Lantas, mana yang lebih baik untuk dipilih antara keduanya? Ini tentu
tergantung pada kebutuhan masing-masing. Dan yang paling penting, meskipun
airsoft gun dan airgun hanyalah replika dari senjata asli, namun jangan sampai
digunakan untuk tindak kejahatan, kekerasan dan semacamnya. [*]
